Re: Marlin Papoose
Pretty much the way I saw it but wanted a second opinion. I know what you mean about the AR-7 feeling like an M-16, I think it is because the AR-7 is so light. Thanks!
Re: an hypothetical question about bears attacking you.
A 12 Guage magnum hand load with a magnum lead load of any shot (smaller is better) in a ringed round. The smaller shot allows you to get more weight in the shell. The magnum will freight the whole thing outta da barrel like who-don-it The ringing of the shell allows the plastic body to stay nicely around the shot as the whole package comes charging out of the barrel. When it hits it has take down power that will stop a moose in it's tracks and knock it down. Interestingly the ringed round also has a better ballistic than most 12 gauge loads dropping maybe 6" over 50 yards This is one round that will never come out the other side. While the copper hollow points will prolly do the job, a magnum hand-load ringed is probably the most stopping power you can get. However, It's my understanding that hypothetical bears are pretty harmless.
Re: it doesn't draw easily
:-D Well, my other guns are an H&K USP, a Sig 226, and a Mossberg. I think the NEXT addition will be either a Baby Eagle or a Sig 229.

Poor Mickey... I guess nobody told him that revolvers are what all the cool kids have these days. Silly little 'auto only' kiddo...
Re: Assault rifles
The Vietnam version, early M16s had design issues. Stoner had wanted a chrome lined bore but they cheaped out. They wound up having to put it in for the M16a1. Also, Vietnam was funky about leaving one chambered overnight. If you did, it would fire but not extract. The climate would seal the round into the chamber. You had to carry in condition two until you started patrol.
